Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New York

suspended w/o pay for inaccurate time sheet recording

I have been an employee of a prominant university for almost 40 yrs. I have been passed up for raises transfers and promotions which I am highly qualified for and which I beleive is due to my religious observance. Recently I was suspended without pay for allegedly falsifying my time sheet. This was following a 7 day vacation to observe a Jewish Holiday. The university redacted this suspension and returned almost all monies due me - the balance to be returned if I agree not to pursue this matter in any legal forum. My supervisor has spent years harassing me and trying to have me terminated to no avail - she did suceed in having me suspended though this was found to be without cause. I want to prove that she is discriminating against me because of my age and religion which is painfully obvious to me. Can you assist me in any way?

Re: suspended w/o pay for inaccurate time sheet recording

Assuming that what you say is true for the sake of the question, there are several options open to you. You can report the discrimination to the EEOC who will investigate and hopefully take corrective action if warranted.

You can also sue your employer for discrimination but since you have not been terminated, I am not sure what damages you have. I would need to know more.

Then there is a defamation action, depending on what this person has said about you and also tortious interfence with contract, another potential cause of action.

If you wish to avoid outright litigation look into the EEOC. Otherwise I would be happy to help if you wish to provide me with further details.

Who determined that the billing incident was unfounded?
