DUI misdemeanor in NY
I was wondering if you are charged with a DUI misdemeanor in New York State, can you leave the country?

I'm not an immigration lawyer, and you really should ask one. My gut is that you can always leave the country. The challenge is getting back in. Also possible that some countries (like Canada) might not let you in.

If you are a US citizen and the Judge as a condition of bail or parole didn't take your passport or specifically prohibit travel abroad, then you can. I would however advise that you retain a competent, experienced DUI/DWI attorney.Your case has many consequences such as possible jail, loss of license and a criminal conviction on your record.
