You should definitely hire a lawyer. Picture this: The District or Village Attorney tries to mete out punishment to those who break the law. With a defense attorney on the other side, the Village Attorney is kept in check, unable to steamroll defendants with no knowledge of the law or how to prepare a defense. When given a PRO SE (self represented) defendant such as yourself, the Village Attorney beams with satisfaction as he knows he will be able to "get over" on you by offering you a sub-standard plea agreement with the threat of jail time if you do not comply.

Yes, you need a lawyer. Neither the police nor the DA/VA are your friend or advocate. If you need a referral or recommendation for an attorney in your county, please contact me via email.

Best of luck!

It is absolutely necessary for you to retain a competent attorney. You are facing loss of license, a criminal conviction and a possible incarceration. I handle these cases on a regular basis. Please call my office @ 7188340087 for a free phone consultation.

Re: dwi

There are three diffrent subsections of the DWI charge - 1192 (1) (2) & (3) - Subsection 1 is what is termed a violation, and would leave no criminal record. The other two are crimes and as a result would create a crimina record.

I hand many of these cases and have regularly seen the cases handled by private attorneys and those handles by Legal Aid turn out VERY diffrently. Usually a good private attorney can secure a much better outcome for you in such a case asa result of their tactics and the amount of time they're able to dedicate to your case. This can, in many instances, make the difference between going to jail or being on probation and simply having to pay a small fine or being granted a violation, which is equivalent to a parking ticket... and would leave no criminal record, or in some instances full dismissals.

Please contact my office, i would be more than happy to discuss your case with you. Feel free to contact me by either phone or email. 2127098303
