Legal Question in DUI Law in New York

I recently got my NY State drivers license back after a DUI conviction, my probation officer now wants my neighbor, who happens to be my parents, vehicle information: license plate number, year, make & model even though we have seperate dwellings, I live over their 2 car garage. This has been verified by the Probation Dept and I have never been asked for this information in the 2 yrs. I've been on Probation. I have bills that state it is the same address but Garage Apartment. Do I legally have to provide them with this information? Also, I am required to have an inter-lock device but do not have a registered, insured, vehicle and do not have access to my parents vehicles.

It sounds like probation has some reason to believe that you are driving your parent's vehicle, whether that's true or not. Typically the judge will side with most probation requests unless they are completely unreasonable. Given that there is an interlock requirement, it diesnt seem that a judge would find it unreasonable. If you are not driving their vehicle, what is the harm in giving probation this information. It seems minimally intrusive.
