My son a resident of NH got charged with a DWI while visiting me in NY. What can be expected when he returns for court in two weeks?

If your son was not arraigned (formerly advised of the charges and given the opportunity to enter a plea) on the charges earlier, he will likely be arraigned on the next date. And from that point on, the possible course of events may take several different directions depending on the nature of the charges, the age of the defendant, the proposed plea from the prosecution, availability of defenses, etc. You should definitely retain an attorney to represent your son on the next court date since the ramifications of a criminal conviction could be rather serious. Generally it all depends on several factors. Was this his first arrest, first DWI arrest? what was his alleged blood alcohol content? and was there any injury or property damage?
in many instances cases such as these can be challenged based on the stop... on the fact that there may not have been adequate cause to make the stop in the first place, so the arrest would have been improper.
I would suggest hiring an attorney, and ensuriing it is someone who handles many of these cases...

There are too many variables to discuss in an internet answer. Your son faces possible jail, criminal conviction, and loss of drivers license and privileges. There may be defenses, there may be plea bargain opportunities. You may contact my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation, You may also visit my web site nydrunkdrivingdefense.com
