Legal Question in DUI Law in New York

summons/ticket

Hello, I was in NYC in October. I got a summons/ticket for a open can of acohle in public i did not get arrested i just got a pink piece of paper that was my copy of the original summons/ticket a stupid mistake on my end. One day i forgot it wos in my pants pocket wane i put theme in the washer machine and I forgot to take it out and the summons/ticket got destroyed. My friend was with me wayne i got the ticket and he got the same summons/ticket as well so i wos hoping he would know what to do. On 12/11/07 me and my friend went to go pay this off i learn that it would only be $25 that's no problem at all. My friend wos able to pay he's off with no problem. But i did not have my summons/ticket and i did not have any ID. I am haveing probloms geting a id at Motor Vehicles because my social security card is laminated. So i was there at the courthouse in NYC with no ID and no summons/ticket i give them my full name and address at the window and they could not find me on the computer the guy at the window said ''maybe it might of been dismissed'' but i dont now that for a fact. The guy gave me a piece of paper with just a buch of nummbers on it to summon locations and so on. i dont want a warrant over a 25 dollar summons/ticket. Help!

Re: summons/ticket

If you are referring to a "DAT you received to appear in NY County (Manhattan) Criminal Court, it actually is possible your case was never called on 12/11/07, and it could be dismissed (but not definitely) by the court.

As you stated, you certainly don't want a warrant issued to complicate matters. It's best to contact a lawyer to help you find out. Feel free to contact me for more information. 516.873.8989
