Legal Question in Education Law in New York
corporal punishment
I need the penal code for corporal punishment in ny state. My son was assaulted by a teacher and he has to make a statement to the police tomorrow. The troopeer wasn't familiar with this code and asked me to do some research. Thank you

Re: corporal punishment
Criminal assault is a matter of the penal code but corporal punishment in public schools is prohibited under Regulations of the Commissioner which can be found at 8 NYCRR (NY Code of Rules and Regulations).
