Legal Question in Education Law in New York
My son changed schools at the beginning of the school year and transfered with a Declassification and 504 recommendation. I have tried to get the school to implement these services since the beginning of the school year. They keep telling me they have not recieved any information fromthe prior school. However i have recieved documentation from the prior school recieved today with fax comformations that they did in fact recieve the information? I gave the school all the information at the beginning of the school year from my own personal records. I brought 5 letters to the school today request they sign them and put the rcvd date requesting Evaluations, And a letter from a Educational Advocate. They school has placed my son in a Intagraded classroom with no Classification in place per them. It clearly state in IEP that my son Needs LRE which they are also violating.....

Keep fighting, and do not back down, tell them they are violating the law and your son has rights. With schools, it is often the ones who bother them most who get results. Go to the school and insist on sitting in on your sons classes to help him, as the school will not do it, and explain to your son, you are doing it to get him the help he deserves. The school will probably give up and give you the services. The squeaky cog gets greased.
