nursing homes
We are 2 people in our 70's, both widowed who are going to get married. The woman has a 200 acre farm and significant money in the bank. She has a pension and SSN. The man has a small amount of money in the bank, no property and a pension incl. SSN worth $3500/month and life insurance worth $90,000. In the event one of us has to enter a nursing home, what is the financial responsibility of the other regarding the payment of the cost? Does one or the other have to pay anything towards these costs?

Re: nursing homes
Yes. You have a spousal duty to support one another for medical care. You may plan ahead by utilizing some estate planning documents.
