Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York
audio book
what legal hurdles would if face if I recorded myself reading a published book and then I sold the recording? an ''audio book'' recorded and distributed by somone else of the same book may already be available.

Re: audio book
If you are not the author you must obtain the right to record and publish the book (make a derivative work and distribute under the copyright law) from the author.
If this is a best seller it will be harder than if it is your friends' memoir.

Yes but they have permission to sell their audio book and you don't, yet. I can assist you in getting permission; it may be relatively easy.
