Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

Freelance Broker Agreement

I need a contract for being a freelance broker. I booked a speaker to speak at a convention. This speaker is represented by an organization. I am the intermediary. MY deal is 10% of his speaking fee in perpetuity + 10% of any & all products sold at this speaking engagement. What contract do I need?

Re: Freelance Broker Agreement

You need a contract that doesn't go in perpetuity. It's a rather straight forward agreement and shouldn't take much time. Though the agreement is not complicated you have to avoid positioninng yourself as an agent because that would require a license from the NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs. If you'd like to discuss this further please feel free to contact me with a number where you can be reached. Initial consult is complimentary.

Generally, and ideally, you would want contracts specifically designed for each situation so as to address all of the issues possibly arising from any given situation.
