Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

What to Do?

I met with a company that claimed to be a Modeling

Agency. They speak to you about the industry and tell you

that in order to get started you need to take photos and

get professional head shots done. After charging you for

these photos they say they will get back to you with leads,

etc. but they never do because they do not actually have

any contacts.

Moreover, the money that I spent is non-refundable and I

never received my photos. What should I do?

Re: What to Do?

If the company is located in New York City and you paid less than $5,000.00, take them to Small Claims Court in the County where they are located. The Small Claims Court has jurisdiction up to $5,000.00 and is very user-friendly. If, however, you paid over $5,000.00 call an attorney.
