Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

minors as artists?

I'm looking to create a graphic novel (another way of saying ''comic book'') that contains a lot of violence and scenes of adult sexuality. Nothing obscene, no penetration, no animals, no minors, etc. Nothing that would look out of place on HBO, in other words. The artist who will illustrate the stories is extremely talented, with an excellent portfolio and extensive experience as an illustrator in this field.

There's only one problem. She's sixteen years old.

IS this a problem? If I put this artist under contract, will I be violating any laws, punishable by fines or worse?

My biggest fear: that such a violation (if it exists) is covered by the same laws dealing with child pornography.

The work will be completed entirely in the state of New York.

Re: minors as artists?

As long as the underage artist herself is not depicted nude, I don't see a problem.
