Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

use of photographs

i am a commercial photographer in new york city.

for my portfolio i photographed some pictures with the help of a stylist who i was friends with.

do i have the right to demand that he does not use these photographs anymore in his portfolio to promote his work?

in some photographs we used jewelery that is made and sold by the stylist. does this change my copyright?

thanks for your help

Re: use of photographs

The short answer is no it does not change your copyright. As the photographer you are the author, and without some agreement to the contrary you remain the owner of the copyright.

That said, I would need to get more facts from you to give an informed opinion and I'm not sure why you would want to stop the stylist from using the photographs. It also seems impractical. It would be expensive to enforse such a prohibition in court.
