if you are 18 are going to college and therefore leaving your parents residence can you stop recieving child support

It all depends on the order. If the order was issued in New York, normally, child support does not end until 21 or the child becomes emancipated. Going to college doesn't emancipate a child. Discuss the matter with your custodial parent.
