Legal Question in Family Law in New York

i am 18

if i decide to live with my boyfriend after i graduate what can my parents do about it leagally? i know they could do minor things like take my car but i was wondering if there was anything they can do to stop me. thank you

Are you 18 or older?

You can also have yourself emancipated (declared independent) and your parent will not be able to prevent you from moving.

If you are 18 you are an adult, with all of the rights and responsibilities. If you want to leave, you can leave.
