Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I am a 16 year old girl in 11th grade currently residing with my parents and siblings. However, because of certain circumstances, I don't want to live there anymore. I would like to know if it is in any way legal for me to live on my own or in a friend's house as long as I agree and abide to certain rules and conditions with my parents.
*The conditions would include me staying in school and passing all my classes, no contact with drugs/alcohol, I have to contact/check-in with my parents, my parents need to know where I would reside, with who, and it would have to be confirmed with whomever I lived with...etc.

Your parents can agree to the terms and conditions you describe, but they do not have to. You can file a petition in Family Court to emancipate yourself, but there will be an inquiry into why, and your family will be investigated. You should try to reach a resolution directly with your parents. Good luck.
