Legal Question in Family Law in New York

17 year old minor child

My son is on probation, has been in rehab 3 times, doesn't go to school or work. Is there a legal way to not be responsible for his actions. I was told there is no such thing as an order for emancipating a minor.

Re: 17 year old minor child

You can not relinquish your responsibility for your child but you can contact his probation officer and see if there is anything he can do since probation is supposed to be supervising your son.

You may want to discuss this further with a lawyer.
