Legal Question in Family Law in New York

i'm am a 59 yr. old divorced male, my ex wife is 62 yr. old teacher in NY. In our divorce we spilt our pensions 50-50 for the time were married. Do I have to wait untill she retires to collect my share, I am thinking of retiring.

Generally, the answer is yes. A qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) directs the pension holder to distribute pension under a certain formula when the beneficiary (your wife) elects to take pension.
