Legal Question in Family Law in New York
About 2 yrs ago i signed some documents that i was told was equal custody of my son. I later found out that i had signed over all my rights for my son and he now lives in the State of New York. I went to the courts here in California and was told that my case was was turned over to the state of New York. My question is, who can help me get connected with my son again and do i have any rights partial custody or at least visitation rights?

You need to get a copy of your court papers, especially the Order and Judgment and read them carefully. Unless your parental rights were terminated, you can still get visitation and even perhaps custody. Child custody can always be changed by a change of circumstances no matter what you previously agreed upon. Property agreements can be carved in stone but never custody unless parental rights are terminated. Get those pares from New York. children need parents who care about them. Good luck!
