abandonment

hi i've been married for about 3 years with my wife, we have no kids together but she has 2 kids of her own that live with us. Im filing for divorce.....i gathered all my things and left the house today. i was wondering, is she entitled to alimony and is there a penalty for abandonment

First, there is no penalty for abandonment.

On a three year marriage with no kids born of the marriage it is not very likely that spousal support would be awarded unless there were some extremely unusual factor (e.g., you're a millionaire, without it, she goes on welfare...)
