Abandonment

If one was in a relationship with a married man who promised marriage. The individual publicly ask for the young lady's hand in marriage. The individual also lived with the individual for long periods of time of and on the a total of seven years. The young lady obtained a divorce under the pretenses she would be marrying this gentleman. The womans family and friends veiw this man as a potential lifetime partner. The gentleman promised to get his divorce and never did. When asked what progress was being made there was always and answer of ''I'm working on it''. The young lady was finally humiliated when the gentleman took her to purchase a new home. All funds were provided by him. He sat her side by side with him through the closing along with the builders. He used her to select all the necessities for the home. He stated he would only be happy there if she was with him. Turns out he was just using the young lady. Can a lawsuit be bought against this man for default on a promise as well as humiliation. Her children have been damaged mentally as well due to his default. Could she recieve compensation for pain and suffering.

No. The operative phrase is "Relationship with a married man." The man was not in a position to promise marriage to another person while he was married and the woman cannot prove that she reasonably relied on his promises.
