Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Can I take action against my lawer

My divorce should have been final in Aug 1997, 4 months ago the secretary called and apoligized because they forgot to get them filed in city court. 2 mos. later I call and I'm told I should get my papers in 2 weeks. I called today March 10 and I'm told they were never processed. I paid $2,000 up front. What action can I take?

Malpractice Action

I suggest you consult a new attorney. You may a cause of action, but you must show that you suffered financial damage to make it worthwhile. A discount in the fee may be a wise resolution with a return of funds.
