Legal Question in Family Law in New York

adding Father's name to birth certificate

14 years ago, I had been separated from my husband for approx. two years, he lived in another state,

My boy friend and I had a daughter, he was never listed on my daughter's birth certificate, how do I get him added. Blood test to prove paternity?

Re: adding Father's name to birth certificate

Your boy friend will need to bring a paternity petition in family court to declare him the father. Then petition to have his name added to the birth certificate. A paternity test will be required unless an order of filiation is granted.
