adult responsibility.

are parents responsible for their homeless adult married child?When the adult child is 27 years old and her husband is 32 years.We rent and do not own our house and do not have the room for them.Yet a city inspector said that we have to take them in.Is this a legal procedure in the city of new york in the boro of Queens?OR is this a new law that people are unaware of?

This is a very difficult situation. You are not the only parents to face this situation in today's world. No one has yet found a perfect solution. Considering the legal issues alone, Your legal and financial responsibility for your children ends when that child reaches 18 years. There are some exceptions and variations, but they are unlikely to apply to this case. However,

if your child does come to live with you and stays for more than 30 days, then she becomes a 'licensee' and has some (limited) rights. My best recommendation is not to think about 'the law', but rather consider your needs on the one hand and your relationship with your child on the other. This is about relationships, not law.
