At what age are children responsible for themselves?

If by "responsible for themselves" you mean, at what age do you not have to pay child support; in New York, a parent's responsibility to pay child support stautorily ceases at the age of 21. That is, if the parents have not made any other agreement extending the age to another date, such as when the child completes his or her college education.
