Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Up to what age am I responsible as a parent to cover expenses for my child?

I have an 19 year old son living with me who was just kicked out of college. How long or to what age do I have to support him? If he moves out how long am I responsible for him financially? I claimed him on my taxes as a dependent for 2008 and will claim him for 2009 since I have supported him for half of 2009. If he is not living with me when can apply for his own health insurance etc. and myself not be responsible financially (use my income) to qualify for low cost insurance?

Generally until the age of 21 in NYS.

Is the child already an adult?

Did you discuss child support payments in the divorce decree?
