Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have no assets or money to afford a lawer. I am going to family court for support and visatation on 4/9/2010 in fulton county New York. I have recived paper work that I can't understand. I am looking into how to obtain free legal advise. The courts say I don't qualify; please tell me how I can go about getting a lawyer to repersent me!
