Can Attorney drop client

Can my attorney drop me before trail because I asked to pay retainer in a few weeks. I have spent over 40,000 with this attorney already.

It depends upon the circumstances. If the attorney has made a court appearance in the case it requires the permission of the judge to withdraw. If not, the attorney is free to withdraw.
