Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Attorney took my money

Back in 2003 I have hired a New York Lawyer to handle my divorce, I gave him a 2800.00 retainer he started the paperwork and all seemed fine till August of 2004. I have sent another payment of 1500.00 thinking that my divorce will soon be over. After that My attorney moved from NY to CT. I asked if he will continue to handle my case and he said yes, but since then he has not done anything for me. he has continued to lie about my case, he never submitted and RJI, my husband attorney has been trying to reach him to finalize the divorce, he has given us all the run around, my husband attorney has been nice to me and has try to help me and getting my attorney to do his half, but we are having a hard time, I dont have any funds for a new lawyer, now my lawyer mailed all the paperwork to my husbands attorney to finish the divorce but the paperwork was incorrect. my husband attorney is not happy about it. and has tried to call him, there were mispelled names and address, missing information, I have made the corrections in pen and initial but the state will not accept the papers now. How can I go about getting my money back from the lawyer who never did what he was supposed to do. We are now in 2007 and Im still not divorce.
