Legal Question in Family Law in New York

attorney not returning calls
i am going through child support proceedings. i belong to a union where the atty i have is provided through my union (legal fees are taken weekly from my check). my atty has not gottten any of the questions i provided for him answered. i had a court date on nov.17,2006. since that day i have called him almost everday & has not rec'd a call back. the state is saying i am behind on my child support(which iam not) an is now saying they will garnish my salary & suspend my drivers license. i do not not have any $ to hire another atty. what do i do? also can i file a grievance 7 how do i go about it?

This is a job for your shop steward or for the filing of a grievance. Call the union and you might also contact the senior partner of the law firm.

It is also a good idea to write to your lawyer. Lawyers deal with paper and LIKE paper. (We are a strange group sometimes!)

PS- What is the name of this union. It is an excellent benefit in todays world.
