Legal Question in Family Law in New York

back child support

I have been order to pay back child support which had accumulated during the years in which I were incarcerated. Now I am seeking information on how to have the current order of back child support modified whereas I will not have to pay for all the years in which I was incarcerated with no source of income.

Re: back child support

Unless you can have your convicition reversed, most judges will not cut you a break for the time you were incarcerated. It is considered a "self-inflicted" injury.

Ask your attorney to try to work out terms for the payment of the arrears.
