Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Backdoor bribe?

A lawyer tells his client he will reduce her fee if she does not go to the judge during a divorce trial and complain about his poor representation. Is this legal? I call it a backdoor bride. But what is the proper term?

Re: Backdoor bribe?

It is not a bribe.

A practical efficient way to settle problems between people, is to attempt a compromise.

The client saves more than money by agreeing to the offer. Since, the client'ts dissatisfaction with the lawyer, is not why the client should be in court.

Good luck,

I do not know the correct term, but this is something to report to the Bar association.
