barriers to remarriage

We were not married in religous service. And my lawyer ask that I remove all barriers for my husband to remarry. In a sworn statement of barriers to remarriage. Why would my lawyer ask me to sign it?

It is a standard form that needs to be signed for there to be an uncontested divorce.
