Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Broke up before wedding

My fiance and I broke up 6 monthes before our wedding, We bought a car together in Nov,2003 where the loan is under both our names, title is under both our names and registration is under her name. One car payment was made from our joint account at the time, and the 3 folowing payments where made from MY personal account. She is telling me she is coming for the car. Do she have a right to do so with out giving me my money back. We had a verbal agreement that the car is mine and I will assume all payments for it. She is now saying that the car is hers and I loose all the money i put in to the car,Can she come for the car? All payments where made on time.

Re: Broke up before wedding

No. Not as long as title is in both of your names and you were making payments for the car.

Re: Broke up before wedding

If title is in both names you own the car jointly. No one has a superior right to the car.
