Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Are there any second chances in life?

In 2006 was unfaithful to my wife. My wife is unaware of the affair. The young woman I had the affair with became pregnant. (I think it was planned to get me to leave my wife, but that is irrelevant) I tried to have her resolve this by alternatives to birth or consider adoption but she wishes to keep the child. I have always maintained that were never anything more than just lovers and that I did not want this child. She had repeatedly expressed to me that this is not my problem and that she wants nothing from me, but I know this is just naivity speaking. My wife and I have a daughter already and I am already living paycheck to paycheck.

The burden of child support for two children along with alimony payments would probably bring me to a level of poverty that would make it impossible to survive. Is there any way to be released from any obligation in this situation?

Re: Are there any second chances in life?

Unfortenately no, unless you take a DNA and find that the baby is not yours. Otherwise, you are obligated to support that child no matter what.
