Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Name change

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW DO I GO ABOUT CHANGING MY SON'S NAME FROM HIS CURRENT LAST NAME TO MY LAST NAME. HIS FATHER AND I WERE NEVER MARRIED AND TECHNICALLY HE SHOULD HAVE HAD MY NAME. WHN MY SON WAS TO BE RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL THE FATHER FILLED OUT ALL THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK AND PLACED HIS NAME ON IT. HOW DO I REVERSE THIS TO HAVE MY SON HAVE HIS RIGHTFULL LAST NAME? PLEASE ADVISE ME. CAN I DO THIS MYSELF? DO I NEED TO OBTAIN AND ATTORNEY? WHAT ARE THE LEGALITIES IN DOING THIS? tHE FATHER IS A NONE PREDICATE FELON AND I DO NOT WANT TO TO BE BURDENED UPON MY SON.

Re: Name change

It is an easy matter to change his name, provided he is under 18 and you are his legal guardian. The procedure is very simple.

My fee for this procedure would be $150.

You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.
