Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Want to change divorce decree

Is it possible to have my divorce decree changed? It has been final for 2 years in Nassau County, NY. My attorney reversed the alimony & child support figures for my ex's benefit & said it wouldn't affect but it does every year when I file my taxes & have to claim ''alimony'' (which is really child support) as income. Can anyhting been done at this point? Also he get's to claim one of our two kids on his taxes even though I have full & sole custody. Can that been changed as well? Thanks.

Re: Want to change divorce decree

Yes, this can be changed. It is especially easy to accomplish if your ex joins in the petition.

It would be accomplished as a motion on notice.
