Legal Question in Family Law in New York

name change after divorce

I recently got divorced by WA state and kept my married name. I am now considering returning to my maiden name but have moved to NY. Which state's forms would I need to use and approximately how much money would be involved in the change over process?

You probably do not need a legal process or petition for returning to usage of your "maiden" or prior surname.

Your Divorce judgment should be sufficient, evidence, to all concerned, that you are no longer, "Mrs."

Good luck,
