Name Change During Separation

My daughter is legally separated from her military husband in New York State. She would like to change her name back to her maiden name to ensure that any contracts, such as leases, etc., can be in that name. Can she make such a name change prior to her divorce becoming final?

Yes. It should be as simple as filing with city hall and paying a small fee.
