can my cousin, who is a lawyer, represent my ex-husband, in our custody battle

More information is needed. Did your cousin represent you or your family previouly? Does your cousin have privileged information that is relevent to the custody battle (such as medical information that only he would know)? If yes, then there would be a conflict of interest and your cousin would not be allowed to represent your ex. If no, there is no legal reason why he could not represent your ex.
