Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Custody

I currently have residential custody of my 15 year old daughter. Joint custody with her mother since 2004. The mother has not been involved in her life since 2002. Now, the mother is seeking full custody for reasons unknown. The original order was establish in NJ. We now reside in NYS and the mother has filed an order to show cause in Passaic county where the order originated seeking full custody. My daughter wants to remain with me and would like visitation with her mother is her mother is willing. Should Passaic be hearing this matter or should it be handled by NYS? Can I lose custody of my daughter? The mother has made false allegations with ACS and the police which were unfounded all in her quest for custody. Should I file harrassment charges against the mother?

Re: Child Custody

Since the original order was established in NJ than the hearing should be handled in Passaic. Concerning NJ law I would request that you re-submit your question to a NJ lawyer.

Mike.
