Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Custody

A woman would like to give my wife and I custodial guardianship of her child. What is the process to get this done? The mother cannot care for the girl and the girl has become very dear to our family over the last four years. We would need complete, legal guardian status so that we can provide for her medical and educational needs.

Re: Child Custody

You probably do not want a guardianship, as that is temporary and the mother can undo that at any time. If you are looking long-term adoption is permanent. Call me to further discuss your options.
