Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child paying rent Still responsible for support?

My son was paying rent to his mother since he was 17, while still going to school. He is now 18, finished with school. Am I still responsible for the support owed to her, any or all of it, while he was paying rent and going to school? He was paying $40.00 per week rent and my support obligation was $83.00 per week.

Re: Child paying rent Still responsible for support?

Unless otherwise addressed in a stipulation of separation or a divorce decree child support generally stops when the child reaches the age of 18.
