child support

i'm a asingle mother of one and my child's father is suppose to pay child support by court he is suppose to give me the money order he was doing it at first and than all of a sudden he stopped paying i dont know what to do and i want to know if i should get a lawyer?

First, You should consider getting an attorney to assist you, it would make it easier but is not totally necessary.

Second, you need to file a petition in family court for violation of the support order. You should have kept a record of the payments that he did make and the ones that he failed to make. You will need to submit that record to the court to demonstrate how much he is in arrears.

Third, you should ask that all payments in the future go through the Support Collection Unit to make this process easier in the future.
