Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Child Support - Court of Jurisdiction
Couple divorced in NYS and had subsequent child support order in favor of mother. At age 17, one child moved in with father in PA. Father was granted custody. Support was adjusted in same NYS court. After turning age 18 (age of majority in PA), child moved back with mother in NYS. Mother filed for support of 18 year-old in NYS court. Is there still a support obligation? Again, child lived in PA and reached age of majority in home state (PA) before moving back with mother in NYS.

Re: Child Support - Court of Jurisdiction
Yes New York is one of a few states that require support till the child is 21 unless the child has been emancipated.
