Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Support

I have a court order for a weekly amount. My Ex-husband has this support deducted from his paycheck. The woman who does this is always late in sending to the Support Collection Unit. Usually when she is on vacation and has noone else to back her up. I have had conversations with my case worker and letters have been sent to her. But this continues to happen. What can I do to make sure this is done weekly and correctly?

Re: Child Support

You've probably done just about everything there is for you to do to try to straighten this out.

As a practical matter, in the context of this type of "process" problem, Social Services has not *authority* to MAKE the employer do anything. Likewise, while I'm fairly confident that a Hearing Examiner in court would express his 'concern' for your predicament - - as a practical matter he's not in a position to enter an ORDER that they process the work according to schedule.

If you calmly persist - - you may get results.
