Child support

I am currently going through a divorce and my soon to be ex-wife told me that my support payments were going to be around $700 a month. I only have 1 child and we were married for almost 2 years. Does this sound right?

Child support in New York is calculated based upon a somewhat complicated formula that reflects the income of both parents, the number of children and several other factors. The length of the marriage is not relevant.

Without knowing the specifics of your situation it would be impossible to say whether any particular sum "sounds right."
