Legal Question in Family Law in New York

child support

My girlfreind & I have split up and we have a 5 month old daughter. I live in N.Y. but our daughter lives in N.J. with her mom. What jurisdiction would I be under as far as amount of child support, N.Y. or N.J.? Also is it true N.Y. law is 17% of gross income minus state & city tax?
