Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Support

My husband and I have not lived together for a year. In this year he has not paid child support. He recently has come into money. Am I entitled to any money for back child support or future child support?

Re: Child Support

The court may only award child support starting from the day that you file the petition. You may also be able to get maintenance, formerly known as alimony, if you get a divorce. Feel free to call me for a consultation (212) 371-4500. Roland Acevedo

Re: Child Support

This is not much of a marriage. You can file a petition for Child Support (and spousal support).

You are also entitled to a divorce, which would include the above, plus property distribution.

Call me if you would like to discuss this.

I practice in NYC and Long Island.
